Job Description
Applications are invited for internships at Pro Football Support (PFS) in the North West region. PFS works in numerous professional football clubs around the UK with players aged 9-18 delivering their Sports Science/Athletic Development programmes. We are looking to recruit interns with a Sports Science and or Strength and Conditioning background - preferably undertaking a undergraduate or postgraduate degree in the field, and who hold football qualifications.
The internship will provide applicants with invaluable experience of Athletic Development and Sports Science within the Football Academy system. An opportunity to be part of PFS mentoring programme, to help boost your CV for future employment, as well as the opportunity to run athletic intervention programmes in liaison with our full time staff for a full season.
Successful applicants will be required to:
- Be able to work flexible hours including 4 hours per week with U18 players as well as 2 evenings with u9-u16 players
- Receive training to deliver exercises/drills provided by the PFS staff
- Monitor players on a 6 weekly basis using PFS monitoring system
- Liaise with club staff and PFS staff effectively and promptly
- Work alongside PFS staff to undertake biomechanical and athletic testing sessions with all the clubs players during the season
- Attend monthly/quarterly regional meetings with other interns and their PFS Regional Manager
Applicants need:
- A background in Sports Science/Strength and Conditioning - desirably taking part in/attained an undergraduate Sports Science degree or higher (Masters degree)
- Be a conscientious, organised individual with excellent communication skills
- Have a knowledge of football
- Have access to a car
