Internships at GPP

An internship at the Global Poverty Project is a great opportunity for students or recent graduates to gain and build on experience in the international development sector. You will be given a real taste of life at our London office, working alongside enthusiastic, experienced professionals and interesting projects.

An internship with GPP will usually involve working 2-3 days per week, depending on your schedule, for a minimum of 4-6 months. We may also accept students wishing to take on a full-time workload over term breaks.

Our internships run throughout the year and will be advertised on this site as they become available. GPP internships are unpaid, however we will reimburse all reasonable travel costs.

About You

As a GPP intern, you will have a proven ability to use your initiative and to work effectively as part of a team. We look for people who demonstrate a genuine passion and commitment for aid and development in addition to the following skills and experience:

Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills;
Strong analytical and writing skills;
Solid experience and ability to manage projects and logistics;
Good personal organisation and time management skills;
Ability to operate as an effective team member;
Ability to work to tight deadlines;
Ability to commit to the minimum internship length.
What to expect as an intern

The nature of your tasks will vary depending upon your skills, our organisational needs and the area to which you are recruited (i.e. Communications, Campaigns, etc.).

Each placement is unique but some examples of the sort of work you may be asked to assist with are:

Assisting with contacting potential hosts and securing presentation bookings;
Conducting research into potential opportunities for GPP;
Drafting and sending communications materials;
Writing blog entries;
Events and logistics support at presentations;
Ad hoc administrative support as required.
