Associ-what?
The Summer
Associate Program is an extremely competitive, 10-week paid training program
for highly motivated recent grads who are pursuing careers in the
media/entertainment industry, specifically in emerging media and technology,
and who want to find new outlets for their digital know-how, innovation and
other untapped talents.
We’re looking for
digitally minded, talented, top-notch
candidates whose focus, commitment and creativity are fully loaded – just like
all of our properties, which include MTV, MTV2, mtvU, VH1, Nickelodeon, Nick at
Nite, TV Land, Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT, CMT Pure Country, Atom, MTV Hits,
MTV Jams, Tr3s, GameTrailers, VH1 Soul, VH1 Classic, Shockwave, Palladia, Logo,
Nick Jr., TeenNick and Nicktoons, plus a huge variety of other mobile, online
and gaming initiatives.
Based on your
experience, education and interests, we’ll place you in one of our new
media-focused departments, supporting one or more of the properties listed
above. These may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Digital Marketing
Web Production/Project Management
Web Development
Product Development
Digital Research, Sales and Business

The Viacom/MTV
Networks Summer Associate Program was created to support the company's diversity
initiative, so we encourage candidates from every background to apply. The
Viacom/MTV Networks Summer Associate Program does not guarantee employment
before, during or at the conclusion of the program.
Requirements:
Be in their last semester (or a recent
graduate) of an accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree program and should
have received their degree by the start of the program
Be available for full-time employment
from Thursday, June 7, 2012 through Friday, August 17, 2012
Be dedicated to pursuing a career in
the media/entertainment industry, specifically within emerging media and
technology
Have previous internship or
work-related experience within or strongly related to emerging media and
technology
Have involvement in extracurricular
activities — preferably activities that demonstrate leadership qualities and
achievements
Have a minimum 3.0 G.P.A.
Essay Questions:
Once you go to the
application page, you will be prompted to pick two out of three. Please write
no more than 1,000 words per essay.
1. What is it about the Viacom/MTV
Networks Summer Associate Program that attracts you? What experiences and/or
qualities make you a competitive candidate for a program geared toward emerging
digital media?
2. What do you consider to be the most
exciting recent technological innovation or web application? Discuss its
effects on you and its broader potential.
3. Describe your most meaningful
accomplishment and how it relates to this program and your future career goals.

Deadline:
Please submit your
complete application by Friday, January 13, 2012. Applications will be reviewed
as they are received.
SAP Timeline:
Friday, January 13, 2012: A complete
application must be received.
December 2011–January 2012: Selected
candidates will be contacted to schedule interviews. Candidates not selected
for interviews will receive notification shortly after deadline.
January–March 2012: Interviews will be
conducted in person at MTV Networks headquarters in New York City.
April 2012: Interviewed candidates
will be notified of their status.
June 2012: Viacom/MTV Networks Summer
Associate Program begins.
