Internship description:
You will support the Research and Policy Coordinator in keeping the organisation up‐to‐date with
policy and legislative changes that impact on young people and the youth‐led sector. You will work
independently to carry out an on‐going scoping exercise to find out about relevant proposed policy
changes and consultations that are due to take place in the next 12months. This scoping exercise will
focus on IARS’ main areas of interest, which include criminal justice, restorative justice, youth policy,
citizenship, human rights, EU, equality and other issues that might affect young people. Other duties
will include attending and participating in internal IARS meetings and other relevant meetings and to
carry out additional tasks which may be required from time to time under the direction of the
Director.
Requirements:
Position would suit a graduate/postgraduate with an interest in social policy;
Knowledge of social policy issues;
An interest in young people’s participation in civic life;
Empathy with the aims and objects of IARS;
Work well independently;
Intellectual capacity to develop a strong overview of IARS’ work;
Good IT skills and be able to conduct thorough online research;
Good written, oral communication skills.
Expenses: We are able to pay up to £7.50 a day for travel expenses and £5 for lunch.
